Railroad Tank Car Inspection

The Tank Car program is much an expert system as it is an inspection program. Beginning with checking load spot clearances, setting the handbrake, and chocking the wheels to ensure the safety of the loader (operator). Then covering every other item in each of the three (3) component groups known as Running Gear (Wheels, axles, springs, side bearings, etc.) Safety Appliances (Platform, walkways, handrails, grab irons, sill steps, etc.) and Product Appliances (Manway, safety valve, bottom outlets, tank, etc.).

It also covers DOT and AAR regulations and has over 1,500 photographs and a 30 minute training film designed to make this training program the best way to learn how to inspect tank cars.

Note: Program can be configured to produce a certificate of completion.



Railroad Hopper Car Inspection

The Hopper Car program is as much an expert system as it is an inspection program. Loading, Blocking, and Bracing

This program covers in detail how to safely load non-bulk containers such as drums, IBC’s, boxes and bags into a van, reefer, or sea container. The program begins with chocking the vehicle and many other steps to ensure the safety of the inspector and driver.

It then covers proper vehicle selection based on products carried and mode of transport to be used. The physical inspection of the van, container and chassis. It emphasizes the importance of the Product segregation chart, contains more than 30 Load Securement Procedures (LSI’s) and meticulously describes the use and construction of wood bulkheads, the proper use of Tygard® fabric barrier strips and all other approved securement methods and void fillers.

Note: Customization may be needed to add load securement methods for containers shipped by your company that are not currently included in this program.

Portable Tank Inspection

Covers all aspects of Portable (ISO) Tank inspection beginning with chocking the vehicle and many other steps to ensure the safety of the inspector and driver.

Once the unit is secure the program describes every component of the portable (ISO) tank from top manway to the bottom outlet assuring its user knows the proper name, location, function and out-of service criteria for each. In addition, a separate section describes the chassis, its components and out-of-service conditions. The program also includes a comprehensive check sheet that in computer terms is completely ‘Hot”. Meaning each item on the check sheet is linked to the part of the program that describes it and its proper operation.

Although each type of portable tank is represented within the program a pictorial menu makes selection so easy the user need go no farther inside the program then the vehicle he/she is interested in. Loading and unloading is also covered.
